Roberts receives highest honor a high school band student can achieve!

Band students are required to undergo a rigorous audition process to be selected to participate in All-District Band, which is comprised of the best local high school musicians in our area. Students are placed by chair numbers with first chair being the highest ranking. A maximum of 24 chairs are available for this particular instrument grouping. Prince Edward County High School student, Benjamin Roberts, auditioned for All-District Band and out of the 116 trumpets who auditioned was selected to be the Second Chair Symphonic Trumpet, a very high honor at the local level. Only the top four symphonic trumpets are eligible to audition to be selected to participate in All-Virginia Band. This ensemble is comprised of Virginia’s best high school musicians from every district. Benjamin Roberts auditioned for this honor and out of the 70 other trumpet players from across the state, he has been selected for the ensemble! This is the highest honor a high school band student can achieve. The group will rehearsed together for two short days on April 5-6, followed by a live performance at 11:00 a.m. on April 7, 2018 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. "It was a really great experience to be around so many extremely skilled high school musicians along with great directors. I'm very thankful for the opportunity and for all of the loads of help that I've gotten from my parents and directors.  I can't wait until next year for an even better experience." said Prince Edward County Stand-Out, Benjamin Roberts
