A message from Mary Jane Cook, PECHS Assistant Principal

This week, January 12–16, we join schools across the Commonwealth in celebrating Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week. This week is set aside to recognize the vital role principals play as instructional leaders, culture builders, problem solvers, and advocates for students, staff, and families. Our principals work daily to ensure a safe, effective, and engaging learning environment, while also supporting teachers, communicating with families, and keeping students at the center of every decision.

I want to take a moment to specifically recognize Mrs. Jessica Tibbs, our High School Principal. Mrs. Tibbs leads with clarity, consistency, and care. She is deeply invested in instructional improvement, supports teachers through coaching and professional learning, and works tirelessly to maintain high expectations for both academics and student behavior. Whether she is meeting with students, supporting staff, collaborating with families, or addressing the countless day-to-day challenges of running a high school, Mrs. Tibbs does so with professionalism, fairness, and a genuine commitment to our school community.

I would also like to recognize Mr. Lee, our CTE Principal. Mr. Lee is a strong advocate for career and technical education and works diligently to ensure our CTE programs provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for life beyond high school. His leadership and collaboration support both students and staff and strengthen the connection between instruction and real-world application.

Please join me in thanking Mrs. Tibbs and Mr. Lee for their leadership, dedication, and service to our students, staff, and community. We are fortunate to have them leading our school.
